Generation itself is not the constraint — the constraints are download volume, track length and, most importantly, who owns the resulting copyright. That last one drives the entire ladder. On Free (€0 forever, no credit card) you get 3 downloads a month of tracks up to 3 minutes, but AIVA owns the copyright, monetization is off the table, and you must credit AIVA. On Standard (€11/month billed annually, 26% off, plus VAT) you get 15 downloads a month up to 5 minutes with no credit requirement and monetization permitted only on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok and Instagram — but AIVA still owns the copyright. Only Pro (€33/month billed annually, 33% off, plus VAT) flips ownership to you, lifts monetization restrictions entirely, raises the cap to 300 downloads a month up to 5 minutes 30 seconds, and adds high-quality WAV export on top of MP3 and MIDI. The practical strength is customization. You can create your own style models rather than being confined to the 250+ presets, and you can upload an audio or MIDI influence to steer the output, then edit the generated track before exporting. That MIDI export in particular matters more than it first appears: it gives you a route into a DAW for further arrangement, even though AIVA itself isn't a DAW and doesn't claim to be. The site also publishes over 150 tracks generated by AIVA and arranged by humans, which is a more useful reference than a feature list when you're judging whether the output fits your project. The weaknesses are structural, not cosmetic. Track duration tops out at 5 minutes 30 seconds on the highest tier, which rules out long-form film scoring and extended ambient work. There's no documented API, plugin, or mobile offering in the material the vendor publishes, so approval workflows and programmatic pipelines aren't an option. The Free plan's 3 downloads a month is a trial, not a workflow — treat it as a way to audition the engine. And the Standard tier's monetization permission is explicitly scoped to four named platforms; if your revenue comes from elsewhere, Standard doesn't cover you and you're pushed to Pro. Where it fits: solo creators and small teams shipping video, podcast and game content on a schedule, who value a one-page licensing story over per-track negotiation. Students and schools have a discount path via the contact form or live chat, which is worth using. Where it doesn't: producers who need stem separation, deep DAW integration or interactive real-time generation, and composers whose tracks regularly run past five and a half minutes.
