AppSheet lets you build custom business apps and automations from data you already own — Google Sheets, Excel files, cloud storage, SQL databases, Salesforce objects, Smartsheet, OData, and REST APIs — without writing code. The editor generates a working app prototype from your data source and offers smart suggestions for customization. Recently Google added Gemini, an AI collaborator that takes a plain-language description of what you want and produces the app. Teams use it for inventory tracking, field inspection, incident reporting, HR onboarding, approvals, and project management. Data capture goes well beyond typed fields: forms, checklists, barcodes, NFC, locations, signatures, and photos. Apps run offline with background sync and support Google, Microsoft, Dropbox, and Box sign-in. You can publish apps to Google Chat in one click and embed app views in Google Docs as Smart Chips. Governance sits in a library of app policies, team management, security filters, on-device encryption, and a Zero Trust approach, with audit logs and BigQuery export on higher tiers. AppSheet states that the data companies, schools, and government agencies put into the platform is not controlled or managed by AppSheet, so you keep it in your own sources. Enterprise Plus adds machine learning modeling and intelligent document processing with OCR. Pricing is Free (test with up to 10 users), Starter at $5/user/month, Core at $10/user/month, and Enterprise Plus at $20/user/month, with Core automatically bundled into some Google Workspace subscriptions. Against Airtable or Microsoft Power Apps, AppSheet makes most sense for organizations already on Workspace that want quick, governed, mobile-ready internal apps.
