But it's not a replacement for a prompt-perfect generator — if you have a precise scene in your head, a text-to-image tool like Midjourney or DALL-E will get you there faster and with less fiddling. Mixer 2 is a step up for guided mixing — upload up to four images, add text, and the AI crafts prompts for you — but it still doesn't give you prompt-level control over every pixel. Watch out for the credit economy: free users get only 3 credits a month, and heavier use adds up quickly. Paid plans start at $7.49/month annually, which is reasonable, but if you're generating daily, the Champion tier at $30.99/month is where you'll end up. The Krea 2 models give you a high-fidelity and a fast lane, a nice touch for balancing quality and speed. When to pass: if you need layer-based editing, masks, or exact text rendering, you'll fight the tool. It's also not the right fit if you need guaranteed licensing for commercial printing — the terms can be murky. Compared to alternatives, Artbreeder is the only one making co-evolution and remixing the core mechanic. We'd pick it for exploratory moodboarding and cross-pollination; we'd reach for a text-to-image generator when the brief is already locked down.
