CC-BEEPER solves a real pain if you're a heavy Claude Code user. The floating LCD widget gives you instant awareness of what Claude is doing — working, asking permission, or hitting an error — without burying your terminal under other windows. The auto-accept modes are well thought out: Strict for cautious use, YOLO when you trust the flow. Voice dictation via on-device WhisperKit is fast and supports 99 languages, and the read-aloud feature (Kokoro with 54 voices) is handy for getting summaries while away from the screen. We'd reach for CC-BEEPER when running long Claude Code tasks like refactoring or batch operations. The priority state display across multiple sessions is actually useful — if you have several Claude instances, the widget shows the highest urgency event. The privacy angle is solid: everything runs locally, zero network calls, no telemetry. Where it bites: macOS 14+ only. No Windows or Linux support. It has no utility if you don't use Claude Code — it's not a general AI assistant dashboard. The open-source nature is great, but you're relying on community maintenance. There's no collaboration or session sharing for teams. Compared to something like Claude Code's built-in terminal, CC-BEEPER adds glanceability and hands-free voice control. But it's an add-on, not a replacement. If you rarely do long Claude Code sessions or keep your terminal visible, you may not need it. Best suited for solo developers on Mac who want to minimize context switching.
