The input surface is wider than a microphone. Live consultation, dictation, an uploaded recording, a client phone call, a PDF, and a handwritten note all route into the same case, and once material is attached you can run medical history summarization over long referral packets. Consult CoVet gives you in-case clinical chat. Tasks & Checklists covers follow-ups, which is the part of the workflow most scribes ignore entirely. Where it gets expensive quietly: Essentials carries a 100-generation monthly cap, and generations are the unit every note, summary, and template run consumes. A busy full-time schedule will exceed that, and the jump to Unlimited is more than double the price. The free Support seat is genuinely useful for administrative staff and credentialed techs supporting a paid user, but it generates nothing on its own and does not unlock the Standard Template Library, custom template generation, or Consult CoVet — so evaluating on Support tells you little about the paid product. Procurement questions worth asking. CoVet does not name the underlying AI models in the material we reviewed. Records export to your practice management system, and the September 2026 Fuga integration imports consultations, lets you review documentation in CoVet, then sends records back to the correct patient in Fuga — but confirm your specific PMS against your own records before committing a team. IDEXX acquired CoVet in September 2026; the company says login, product, support, and integrations including non-IDEXX systems are unchanged. If you run Cornerstone or another IDEXX property that is straightforward; if you run a competing PMS, get the roadmap question answered in writing. The roster of named integrations we could verify is short — IDEXX, Fuga, connect.vet — so treat PMS connectivity as a trial item, not a brochure claim. Against PetDesk Scribe and the human-health scribes vets sometimes trial, the reason to choose CoVet is species-spanning templates, per-pet records on multi-pet visits, and phone-call capture. Against a general dictation tool, it is the case-level structure and the follow-up tracking. The reason to hesitate is price-per-generation at the middle tier and the ownership change.
