Hyper

Mobile-first VTuber app for live streaming with 2D/3D avatars.

70/100Safe BetFree planFreemium

Hyper is the easiest on-ramp to VTubing for mobile users. Its free tier and OBS plugin are genuine differentiators, but power users will hit limits on advanced streaming controls and chat integration. If you need multi-camera setups or extensive desktop overlays, consider Prism Live Studio or OBS with a face-tracking plugin.

I don’t know how to describe what I have in mind other than ‘borders on macro’. But basically I find art where one body part is what would be considered macro (as large as or bigger than a room/house) but where the rest of the person/furry’s body isn’t actually a giant/macro. It’s a little sad that there isn’t a lot of hyper art that goes to these extremes without being full giant-macro. Or is there is, it usually…

I have Win 10 Pro and need to run a virtual Windows in it. I have never used Hyper-V, but have used VirtualBox/VMWare for many years. This is my gaming rig so I don't want to clutter it with unnecessary software. So is Hyper-V good enough for casual virtualisation?

About Hyper

FreemiumBeginner-friendlyNo APIMobile · Plugin

Hyper is a mobile-first VTuber app that turns your phone into a portable streaming studio. You can become a virtual YouTuber using your own VRM or Live2D avatars, or build one from scratch with the in-app Avatar Builder. The app is built for creators who want to record and live-stream avatar content without the complexity of desktop software — just open the app, pick an avatar, and go live to TikTok, Twitch, YouTube, or Hyper's own platform. Hyper Online, the company behind it, focuses entirely on tools for VTubers and avatar creators, making this more than a side feature. The recording studio packs scene switching, motion capture via your phone camera, and real-time lip-sync and facial expressions, so your avatar reacts as you talk. You can export recorded videos to local storage or stream directly from the app. For desktop workflows, an OBS plugin bridges mobile and PC setups, letting you use your phone's capture inside OBS while keeping all your overlays. That combination is rare among mobile VTuber tools. Hyper is free to download, with optional in-app purchases or a Pro subscription for extra features. It's ideal for beginners and intermediate VTubers who want a quick start without buying a webcam, VR headset, or motion-capture gear. Existing VRM/Live2D owners can import their avatars instantly, while newcomers can customize hair, clothes, and accessories right in the app. Compared to desktop-heavy options like Prism Live Studio or OBS with face-tracking plugins, Hyper trades advanced controls for sheer convenience. If you're after a no-setup way to start VTubing from anywhere, Hyper is the most direct entry point. Advanced streamers will still find it limited for multi-camera setups or deep chat integration, but as an on-ramp, it's hard to beat.

Behind the Verdict

Hyper's core strength is accessibility. You can go from downloading the app to live on TikTok in under ten minutes, thanks to the Avatar Builder and one-tap streaming. The free tier is genuinely useful — you can record and stream without paying, which is rare in a category where desktop tools like VTube Studio require a webcam and PC setup. The OBS plugin is a standout feature: it lets you use your phone's face tracking as a motion-capture source in OBS, effectively turning your phone into a webcam replacement. This is a clever bridge for streamers who already use OBS on PC but want better avatar facial expressions without buying a Vive tracker or iPhone. For existing VRM/Live2D owners, importing your avatar is seamless — you don't need to rebuild anything. The app's limitations become clear once you try to scale. There's no multi-camera support, so you can't switch between different angles or use a second phone as a scene camera. Chat integration is limited to basic overlays — you won't get deep Discord bot integration or advanced chat commands. The free tier also caps export at 720p and adds watermarks, which is fine for testing but frustrating if you want to build a serious channel without upgrading. The Pro subscription is reasonably priced, but the exact cost is undisclosed on the site, which is a transparency issue. Hyper is best for beginners, hobbyists, and creators who want to test the VTuber waters without a hardware investment. It's also great for mobile-first creators who stream from their phone anyway. It's not for serious streamers who need multi-cam setups, custom chat bots, or extensive scene management. If you're already deep into OBS and have a dedicated streaming PC, you might prefer using VTube Studio with a webcam for more control.

Limitations

  • Full avatar customization is paywalled behind Pro or in-app purchases, so the free Avatar Builder only offers basic options.

Where the pricing makes sense

The company stage and team size where Hyper's pricing actually pencils out — and where peers do it cheaper.

Setup time & first value

How long it actually takes to get something useful out of Hyper — broken out by persona, not the marketing-page minute.
