Loomal is one of the first platforms to treat agents as first-class economic actors with both a wallet and an identity. The Agentic Commerce layer does something genuinely useful: paywalling an endpoint with a few lines of code and having an agent automatically pay per call in USDC is neat. The x402 standard means every transaction is verifiable with a signed receipt — no chargebacks, no API keys, no invoices. For developers building agentic workflows, this removes a huge integration headache. The Mailgent identity layer goes further: a dedicated email inbox, encrypted vault, 2FA generator, and decentralized identity bundled into one API call. This lets agents sign up for services, store credentials, and bypass 2FA autonomously. The tight integration between the two layers means an agent can authenticate, pay, and receive a receipt in one flow. However, Loomal is clearly early. The Shopify and WooCommerce plugins are still coming, which limits e-commerce use cases. The free tier is generous but the 25% fee on paid calls is steep — though it drops to 10% and 6% on paid packs, making it cost-effective at volume. Long-term reliability at scale is unproven; early adopters should keep a fallback. Compared to Stripe or traditional payment gateways, Loomal is not for human-facing purchases or subscriptions. It shines where agents autonomously consume APIs or digital goods. For developers already building with MCP frameworks, it's worth a weekend experiment. For production revenue streams handling thousands of calls per day, we'd want more proven uptime and a track record. Overall, Loomal is a smart bet on the agent economy — foundational, not yet mature.
