That speed came with trade-offs. You couldn't customize the backend or inject custom code beyond what Mocha's visual logic blocks allowed. Scaling wasn't a concern because the platform handled hosting, but the shutdown notice changes everything. We'd reach for this only if you need a prototype or internal tool that only needs to live for a few months. For anything longer-lived, you're looking at an enforced migration. Mocha's help in exporting apps softens the blow, but it's still a disruption. Compared to alternatives like Bubble or Adalo, Mocha was simpler and faster to start but offered less depth. The AI features (Claude-powered MAX Agent, Gemini image gen) were a differentiator. Now, those same competitors offer more sustainable paths. Where it bites: you cannot use Mocha for any project with a lifespan beyond August 2026. If you need a throwaway MVP to test an idea, it might still win on speed. But for any serious commitment, look at Bubble, WeWeb, or FlutterFlow. In practice, if you're already a Mocha user, your only sensible move is to start migrating immediately. The platform continues to function until shutdown, so you have a few months to transition. Don't wait.
