The interesting thing about Renamify is that it picked a narrow job and did it semantically rather than sequentially. Most rename utilities give you counters and regex; Renamify looks at the picture. That distinction matters most in two places. First, retrieval: a filename like 'Golden_Retriever_Park_2024-06-01.jpg' is searchable in Finder, Spotlight, Google Photos or any DAM without a single tag being applied. Second, accessibility: a descriptive filename is what a screen reader actually announces, and the product is explicitly built around that — the site commits to free premium access for visually impaired users and frames the whole tool as 'making the web accessible for everyone.' That's a genuine differentiator, not a marketing line, and it's rare in a utility category. On the practical side, the workflow is frictionless in the way that matters: drag a folder in, get a zip out, no desktop install, no plugins. Batch processing is advertised for hundreds of files. What you give up is control at the edges. File size is capped at 10MB and the visible drop zone lists JPEG and PNG, so RAW files from a full-frame camera and most video are out unless the accepted format list is broader behind sign-in. Large libraries mean many round trips through the browser rather than one overnight job on your own machine, which is the trade-off of a hosted tool. There's also no documented integration surface — no Lightroom plugin, no Drive or Dropbox sync documented in what we could see — so renamed files land in your downloads folder and you file them yourself. For an individual, a freelancer clearing client image folders, or anyone who wants their photo library to survive a Spotlight search, that's a fine trade. This is a focused utility, not a digital-asset manager: no tagging, no dedup, no culling, no metadata editing. Judge it on the renaming and it holds up well; judge it as a library manager and you'll want something else.
