Shoes and accessories are in scope, not just clothing. Members report the picks improve the longer they use it, which is the tell that the taste model is actually doing work rather than returning a static category feed. And the economics are straightforward: the service is free, you buy from the third-party seller, and returns are advertised as free per the vendor FAQ. Weaknesses: this is a web experience, so there's no on-the-go app browsing. Because Retrofit holds no inventory, availability, shipping speed and condition all depend on the individual vintage shop you get linked to — the site's own FAQ includes a condition-check question, which tells you condition is a variable you still have to manage. There are no seller-facing tools here: no storefront, no bulk listing, no analytics, so resellers will find it useless. Heavily damaged or unusual pieces are the classic failure mode for AI tagging, and there's no guarantee a specific piece you saw last week is still listed. Where it fits: anyone with secondhand intent and no secondhand patience — sustainable-fashion buyers, Pinterest-heavy shoppers, people who want curated vintage pushed at them weekly. Where it doesn't: resellers, people who shop new fast-fashion basics, and the subset of thrifters for whom the hunt is the hobby. If you're in the first group, the cost of trying is zero and the downside is a few minutes of taste setup.
