What the acquisition adds is the handshake with Paylocity's HCM platform: approval chains can draw on people data, and a budget view can see the payroll sitting next to it, which is the actual pitch behind "payroll and non-payroll expenses on one platform." The tradeoff is the one every bundle carries — less freedom to pick the best-in-class piece for each job. If Workday, Rippling, or BambooHR runs your HR, adopting Airbase means adopting an ecosystem you didn't choose, or running two systems anyway and losing the reason you looked. Procurement-heavy organizations wanting a dedicated sourcing suite will find the request-to-PO flow narrower than a purpose-built tool, and small businesses after a lightweight expense tracker are over-served. Verify the AI invoice coding and card controls against your own invoice volume in the interactive product tours before committing, because the tour modules are currently the most concrete pre-demo evidence the vendor publishes.
