What sets it apart from the rest of the category is the delivery model. There is no clip-on lens, no ring light bracket, no second webcam. It is a virtual camera you enable once and then select in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, OBS Studio or Zoho, which means it also works for streamers and webinar hosts who route through OBS. Processing runs on your machine, so the vendor explicitly does not see your meetings — a point that matters if you sit in client calls under NDA. Where it stumbles is hardware reach. The Windows floor is an Intel Core i5/i7 with Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 96EUs, an AMD Ryzen 7640HS, or a GPU like the AMD Radeon RX 5600m or Nvidia GTX 1650; the Mac floor is an Apple M1. That is a recent-laptop requirement, not a universal one, and it is the single most common reason a trial ends in a refund. The free Starter tier is Windows-only, so Mac users evaluate on the paid tier. The pricing page lists an Enterprise contact option with a personalised quote, a partner programme and premium support, but does not publish the precise feature differences between Starter and Premium beyond the Starter set — so if you need to know exactly what 'erweiterte Funktionen' covers, ask before you commit a team. Competitively, the honest comparison is Nvidia Broadcast, which is free but only runs on RTX GPUs, and hardware rigs like teleprompter-style beam splitters, which cost several hundred euros and take up desk space. Casablanca sits between them: broader hardware support than Broadcast, far lower cost and setup than hardware. For a sales rep, lecturer, recruiter or consultant who is on camera daily, €7/month is easy to justify. For someone who joins a call twice a month, or who needs pixel-perfect image fidelity for creative work, the correction layer will not earn its place.
