Palmier is one of the first tools to treat AI generation as an editing function rather than a separate step. If you're tired of jumping between Midjourney, Runway, and Premiere, this timeline-native approach saves real time. The multi-track editor is competent for basic cuts, speed changes, and layering, and the ability to regenerate a clip and have it swap in place is slick. Where Palmier shines is in the MCP agent integration. Having Claude Desktop or Cursor automatically place media and trim clips based on natural language prompts is genuinely new – and feels like a peek at the future of AI-assisted post-production. The privacy stance (no training on user content) is reassuring for professionals handling sensitive footage. That said, Palmier is macOS-only (requires 26+), which shuts out a huge chunk of potential users. The credit system is reasonable but adds friction if you're on a tight budget or do heavy generation. Advanced editors will miss color grading tools, multi-channel audio mixing, and plugin support – this isn't a Premiere replacement yet. Rendering speed can also be slower than expected with long timelines. Compared to CapCut, Palmier offers deeper AI integration but lacks web access and simplicity. Against Runway, it gives you a real editor but fewer generation models and no team collaboration. We'd recommend Palmier for solo creators who want to stay in one timeline and are comfortable with macOS. If you need cross-platform, unlimited generation, or advanced post-production, look elsewhere – at least for now.
