Modyfi

Modyfi aims squarely at designers who juggle Photoshop for editing, After Effects for motion, and Midjourney for AI generation—and wish they didn't have to. The browser-first approach and modifier stack let you build complex, non-destructive images and animations without leaving the tab. Where it shines is in its speed and simplicity. The command bar is genuinely fast for repetitive actions. The community remixing feature is a clever way to learn and iterate. AI generation and background removal work well, though they're basic compared to dedicated tools. But Modyfi isn't yet a full Photoshop replacement. You won't find advanced features like CMYK support, extensive brush engines, or a deep plugin ecosystem. For professional print or heavy illustration, you'll still need a desktop app. Motion is limited to looping animations—no keyframing curves or 3D compositing. The biggest caveat is the Figma acquisition. While Figma has kept standalone products alive before (e.g., FigJam), Modyfi's long-term roadmap is uncertain. It may become a Figma plugin or get absorbed. For now, though, the tool works as advertised. Compared to Canva, Modyfi is more powerful for image manipulation and animation but less beginner-friendly. Compared to Photopea, it's faster and more modern but lacks the layer-style parity. We'd recommend it for motion-focused graphic designers and creative teams who want to experiment, but not for production-critical workflows that require offline access or CMYK output.
