Oki Home is one of the few consumer AI products in this refresh that is not a chat window on top of someone else's model. The 27-billion-parameter model runs on the appliance's own NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti (16 GB GDDR7) with 32 GB of system RAM, 24/7, and the vendor states plainly that your questions and data never leave your home and that there is no cloud subscription. That is the whole pitch, and it is a coherent one: a single automatically organized timeline for photos, messages, files, trips and events, natural-language retrieval by who, where or when, and voice queries answered from your own indexed memory. Where it goes beyond a search box is Oki Desk, which browses websites, compares options and works through multi-step tasks using context from your notes, files and conversations — you follow along and guide the next step. The hardware story is unusually well specified: 124 x 276 x 197 mm in bead-blasted aluminum, 10 Gb Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7 antenna connectors, 3x DisplayPort, 2x HDMI, 2x USB-C and 3x USB-A at 10 Gb/s, 2x USB-A 2.0, three 3.5 mm audio I/O and optical S/PDIF. Storage is the Memchip, an 86 x 54 x 6 mm M.2 NVMe puck with 2 TB included and configurations up to 16 TB, which you can physically pull out and carry — and spare Memchips can hold distributed encrypted backups for people you trust. A Linux environment means developers can build custom apps or run their own models on the GPU. The weaknesses are timing, price and scope. Batch 1 sold out and Batch 2 is listed at $2,299 with a 2 TB Memchip, shipping Q1 2027; the reservation itself is $59 and refundable. Capacity beyond 2 TB is a separate paid configuration, so the headline price is not the ceiling. The 27B local model targets memory and multi-step tasks rather than general writing or coding, and Oki itself notes it uses language models and machine learning whose outputs may be incomplete or inaccurate. Optional cloud models and connected services are described as extending what you can do, with their own data-sharing boundaries — which means the fully-local claim holds for the default setup, not necessarily for every extension you enable. If you need shared multi-user workspaces, collaboration controls, or a documented third-party integration catalog you can deploy today, this is not the machine. If privacy is the deciding factor and you already budget for storage plus an AI subscription, the trade is legible: higher up-front cost, ownership instead of rent.
