If your organization is an investment bank, hedge fund, or any team governed by SEC or FINRA recordkeeping rules, Fellow's botless recording, zero-day retention, and MNPI redaction are features you can't get from Otter or Fireflies. The AskFellow AI agent and CRM automation for Salesforce and HubSpot are genuine productivity boosters—imagine never manually updating a deal record after a call. But there are trade-offs. The free tier gives only 5 AI notes and recordings lifetime—generous for a trial, but not enough for ongoing use. The Team tier ($7/user/month) caps at 10 AI notes and recordings per user per month, which is restrictive for heavy meeting schedules. You'll need the Business ($15/user/month) or Enterprise ($25/user/month) tiers for unlimited usage, and the Enterprise tier requires a minimum of 10 users. In practice, Fellow's interface is clean and the library is well-organized, but the real-time collaboration on notes during meetings is limited compared to live-editing tools like Google Docs. For freelancers or small teams without compliance needs, a lighter tool like Fireflies or Otter (with unlimited free tier in some cases) may be a better fit. Fellow's strength is its governance: admins control who records, what gets transcribed, and how long data is stored. That makes it ideal for IT and legal teams, but it also means more setup overhead. The recently launched mobile app extends botless recording to in-person meetings, which is unique. If your priority is airtight compliance and centralized control, Fellow is the clear pick. If you just want quick summaries without the red tape, look elsewhere.
