But here's the catch: full access costs $30/user/month (enterprise) or requires a Microsoft 365 Personal/Family subscription ($6.99-$9.99/month). The free Copilot Chat tier is limited — basic Q&A and content generation, but no integrations with your files. So for heavy users, it's an add-on cost. Compared to Google's Gemini integration in Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 Copilot is more embedded in the desktop apps, while Gemini leans on cloud-native collaboration. If your org is already paying for Microsoft 365, Copilot is the natural choice. If you're a freelancer or small business on a budget, the free tier might not cut it. In practice, Copilot does best with structured tasks: summarizing long email threads, drafting proposals from templates, turning meeting notes into action items. It's less impressive at creative brainstorming or handling non-Microsoft formats. Also, privacy remains a concern — IT admins manage data access, but some enterprises worry about AI training on their data.
