Data stays in your browser, so privacy is baked in. When to pick it: if you need a lightweight, private, and free tool for personal productivity and financial calculations, and you don't require collaboration or cloud sync. It's perfect for quickly calculating freelance rates, mortgage payments, or burn rate without signing up for anything. When to pass: if you work in a team and need shared workspaces, real-time collaboration, or cloud sync across devices. The tool lacks user accounts, so there's no way to access your data from another computer unless you export/import. Also, if you need advanced project management features like dependencies or Gantt charts, look elsewhere. The closest alternative is Notion or Otter.ai, but they require accounts and often a subscription. Recap Flow is the anti-Notion: local-first, zero cost, zero signup. It won't replace a full team workspace, but for solo use, it's a refreshing change.
