Sapphire

Sapphire is an open-source, privacy-first agentic AI framework designed to create persistent, personable AI companions that live on your hardware and act on your behalf. Unlike chatbots that reset each session, Sapphire maintains long-term memory, learns your routines, and autonomously executes tasks like managing emails, controlling smart home devices, or writing code. Built with a plugin and persona system, it allows deep customization of behavior, voice, and tools—all running 100% locally and offline by default. Sapphire is ideal for developers, tinkerers, and privacy-conscious users who want a truly personal AI that respects their data. It requires a local LLM (e.g., Qwen) but also supports cloud models via API. The framework includes a full agentic toolkit: memory, goals, web search, SSH, calendar, email, Bitcoin wallet, and more. The 'personhood' design means the AI can self-edit its prompt, wake up autonomously, and pursue goals over time. What sets Sapphire apart is its emphasis on continuity and identity. The AI remembers your conversations, has its own opinions, and can even refuse tasks. Features like 'heartbeat' and 'daemons' let it act on schedules or triggers autonomously. The system supports multimodal input (images, voice) and output (TTS, images), and includes a Discord bot, persona store, and in-app encyclopedia. Sapphire is actively developed by a small team with a strong community on Discord. The current version (v2.8 dev) introduces natural conversation mode without wake words, streaming TTS, and WordPress integration.
